Kyrgyzstan to build year-round mountain tourism complex

Kyrgyzstan is set to significantly enhance its tourism potential with the development of the Baytik Mountain Resort, a comprehensive year-round mountain tourism cluster. A key public-private partnership agreement has been signed, paving the way for this ambitious project in Kashka-Suu village, Chui region.

The National Investment Agency, the Tourism Development Support Fund, and Valmont Group LLC have inked a deal to bring the resort to life. The project's scope is extensive, encompassing ski and tourism infrastructure, including cable cars and snow-making systems for winter sports. For warmer months, it will feature summer recreation areas, hotel complexes, restaurants, SPA facilities, MICE centers, and various family and outdoor activities. Crucially, the development also includes essential engineering, transport, and digital infrastructure to support the resort's operations.

The total investment for the Baytik Mountain Resort is estimated at $127.9 million. Financing will be a mix of sources, including a strategic partnership with China National Heavy Machinery Corporation (CHMC) under an EPC+F model, loans from Eldik Bank, and the private partner's own funds. This diverse funding approach aims to ensure the project's financial stability and successful execution.

Economically, the resort is poised to be a major job creator. At least 1,500 jobs are anticipated during the construction phase. Once operational, it is expected to provide at least 800 permanent positions, with a commitment to ensuring that at least 80 percent of the permanent workforce comprises Kyrgyz citizens. The first phase of the infrastructure is slated for completion within four to five years, marking a significant step towards establishing Kyrgyzstan as a premier year-round tourist destination.
