Kyrgyzstan to export berries to China: Which varieties should farmers grow?

Kyrgyzstan has gained an official route to export fresh berries to China after the two countries signed a phytosanitary protocol, the Agriculture Ministry said.

The agreement allows Kyrgyz producers to export freshly harvested raspberries, blackberries and currants to the Chinese market. The Department of Agricultural Crop and Horticultural Expertise recommended varieties it considers highly profitable and suited to export.

For raspberries, it listed Enrosadira, Shehiba and Polonez. Recommended blackberry varieties include Loch Ness and Natchez. For currants, it named golden currant, Tiben and Tisel.

The recommended varieties are remontant and highly transportable, the department said. Their firm structure helps them withstand transportation and storage while preserving their appearance, quality and taste for longer periods.
