Kyrgyzstan to install 20,000 CCTV cameras by end of 2026

Kyrgyzstan is set to significantly bolster its public safety infrastructure with the planned installation of around 20,000 CCTV cameras across the country by the end of 2026. This extensive rollout is a key component of the "Safe Country" project, designed to improve crime prevention, maintain public order, and enhance citizen security.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the initiative during a board meeting that reviewed the agency's operational and service activities for the first half of 2026. The meeting emphasized the importance of digitalization, improving management processes, and strengthening service discipline within law enforcement.

Officials highlighted the project's goal to significantly boost the effectiveness of crime prevention and public safety measures. The head of the ministry also stressed the need for high-quality public service, instructing regional police departments to ensure legality, transparency, and prompt responses to public inquiries and complaints.
