Kyrgyzstan Universities Receive Over 78,000 Applications in Five Admission Rounds

Kyrgyzstan's higher education institutions have processed a significant volume of applications during the summer admission period, with a total of 78,400 electronic applications submitted by prospective students over five rounds. The data, compiled by the "Abiturient Online" automated information system as of August 12, shows a clear preference for contract-based enrollment, with 51,800 applications compared to 26,600 for state-funded (budget) positions.

Following the application process, universities have recommended 51,000 applicants for enrollment. A substantial majority, approximately 38,000 individuals or 74% of those recommended, have formally confirmed their commitment to their chosen specialties. However, the admission campaign also saw 3,800 applicants withdraw their applications during the period.

The top five universities attracting the most applications are the Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I. Razzakov (13,423 applications), Kyrgyz National University named after J. Balasagyn (11,645), Osh State University (8,319), Kyrgyz State Medical Academy named after I. Akhunbaev (6,167), and Bishkek State University named after K. Karasaev (5,940). The admission campaign concluded its final round of application registration on Tuesday.

The figures highlight the intense competition for university places in Kyrgyzstan, particularly for the more affordable state-funded spots. The system aims to streamline the admission process through online applications, providing a clear overview of applicant numbers and enrollment confirmations. The final enrollment numbers will be determined once all confirmations are finalized.
