Kyrgyzstan university admissions: 35,099 students enrolled, top fields revealed

Kyrgyzstan's university admissions campaign concluded with 35,099 students enrolled, falling short of the planned capacity of around 65,000. The majority of admitted students, 79.3 percent, were enrolled on a fee-paying basis, while 20.7 percent secured state-funded places.

Universities had aimed to admit over 55,000 students paying tuition and about 9,500 on state scholarships. The actual enrollment figures suggest a significant gap between planned and actual admissions, particularly for state-funded spots.

The most popular fields of study among enrolled students were education and humanities, followed by economics and finance, medicine, information technology, law, architecture, and construction. Education and information technology fields received the largest allocations of state-funded places, alongside medicine, architecture, and construction.

Leading universities in terms of application numbers included the Kyrgyz State Technical University named after Iskhak Razzakov (KSTU), Kyrgyz National University named after Zhusup Balasagyn (KNU), and Osh State University (OshSU). These institutions, along with the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy and Bishkek State University, also received substantial numbers of state-funded places.

The admissions process spanned six rounds. The academic year is set to commence on September 15, with medical students beginning online classes on September 2. In 2025, approximately 30,000 students were admitted nationwide.
