Kyrgyzstan Views Russia as Strategic Partner, Cites Strong Economic Ties

Kyrgyzstan considers Russia a strategic partner, emphasizing the strong foundation of shared history, cultural proximity, and mutual trust that underpins their relationship. President Sadyr Japarov highlighted this in a video address to the Kyrgyz-Russian Economic Forum.

Japarov noted that long-term development guidelines for Kyrgyz-Russian cooperation were established during last year's talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The dynamic of their bilateral relations, he stated, confirms the chosen course of collaboration is correct. He pointed to the trade and economic interaction reaching nearly $4 billion by the end of 2025, with more than 1,800 companies having Russian participation in Kyrgyzstan.

Investment cooperation has also seen consistent strengthening, with Russia remaining one of the largest investors in Kyrgyzstan's economy. Japarov described Russia as a reliable partner for implementing strategically important projects. He sees the current achievements as a basis for a new phase of partnership between the two nations.

Furthermore, Kyrgyzstan views the Russian market as a crucial avenue for promoting its domestic products. Japarov expressed confidence that further development of trade and economic cooperation, alongside creating favorable conditions for mutual trade, will significantly expand the presence of Kyrgyz goods in Russia and open new business opportunities. In turn, Kyrgyzstan is committed to continuously improving its investment legislation and fostering a favorable business environment.
