Kyrgyzstan Woman Alleges Mistreatment, Extortion by Doctors

A resident of Kyrgyzstan's Jalal-Abad region has sought the intervention of the ombudsman after alleging mistreatment, negligence, and financial extortion by medical staff. The woman, identified only as T.D., claims she was subjected to harsh treatment and demands for money while in the maternity ward of the Jalal-Abad Regional Clinical Hospital.

According to the press service of the ombudsman's institute, the woman approached the human rights defender to protect her rights against the alleged illegal actions of the medical professionals. Her complaint details instances of what she describes as rude behavior, a lack of proper care, and demands for payment beyond official fees during her stay at the hospital.

The ombudsman's office has confirmed it is investigating the allegations. The investigation aims to ascertain the facts surrounding the woman's claims and determine if any medical or ethical violations occurred.
