La Liga: Barcelona sign Adeyemi for $33m from Borussia Dortmund

Barcelona has secured the signing of forward Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund, adding significant attacking depth to their squad. The transfer, reported to be worth 29 million euros ($33 million) including potential add-ons, sees the German international join the Spanish club on a five-year deal, keeping him at Camp Nou until June 30, 2031.

Adeyemi, who is 24 years old, becomes Barcelona's second major signing of the transfer window, following the acquisition of England international Anthony Gordon from Newcastle. His arrival is seen as a crucial move to compensate for the attacking void left by the departure of veteran striker Robert Lewandowski and the end of Marcus Rashford's loan spell.

Known for his blistering pace and versatility, Adeyemi can operate as a central striker or on either flank, providing coach Hansi Flick with multiple tactical options. Flick, who previously gave Adeyemi his debut for the German national team in 2021, will be hoping the forward can replicate his goal-scoring form at his new club.

Adeyemi joined Dortmund in 2022 from Red Bull Salzburg. During his tenure with the German club, he scored 36 goals in 146 appearances across all competitions over four seasons. Barcelona is also reportedly pursuing Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez, indicating a strong intent to revamp their attacking line this summer.
