La Liga: Yamal, Raphinha and Pedri star as Barcelona thrash Valencia 5-0

Barcelona delivered a commanding 5-0 victory over Valencia at Mestalla, with Lamine Yamal scoring twice as the Catalan side made it four wins from four in the 2026/27 La Liga season.

Yamal opened the scoring in the sixth minute after Fermin Lopez picked out his run. He later had another goal ruled out for offside. Fermin doubled Barcelona's advantage midway through the first half after Anthony Gordon kept the ball alive in the box.

Valencia created counter-attacking chances, but Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia twice denied Arnaut Danjuma in one-on-one situations. Raphinha added the third shortly after halftime, converting Fermin's low cross at the far post.

Barcelona continued to dominate. Raphinha went close again, Rodri struck the crossbar and Gordon was denied by Stole Dimitrievski. Pedri made it 4-0 in the 79th minute after combining with Dani Olmo, and Yamal completed the rout five minutes later after receiving another pass from Olmo.

The result lifted Barcelona to the top of La Liga after Real Madrid's defeat by Real Betis. Barcelona has scored 17 goals in four league matches. The match was also described as a memorable farewell at Mestalla, with Valencia expected to move to a new stadium next season. Barcelona now turns to the Champions League, with Feyenoord due to visit Spotify Camp Nou in its opening European fixture.
