Laayoune launches major development projects

Laayoune is set to benefit from a series of significant development projects, inaugurated and launched by the governor of the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region, Abdel Salam Bakrat. The initiatives coincide with the 27th anniversary of King Mohammed VI's enthronement, underscoring a commitment to regional progress.

The projects encompass a wide range of improvements aimed at enhancing the urban landscape and residents' quality of life. These include the development of a sports and recreational park in Lower Laayoune, designed to encourage physical activity and improve public spaces. Additionally, the foundation stone was laid for the Urban Development Museum in the Al-Hassani neighborhood, intended to preserve and promote the city's architectural heritage.

Security and connectivity are also key focuses. A new headquarters for the third police district was inaugurated to strengthen the security infrastructure and bring services closer to citizens. Urban connectivity is being improved with a project linking the Oum Al-Saad hub to the sports and social hub in the "Boukoun" area, facilitating movement and integration between different urban centers.

The projects launched and inaugurated on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the accession of King Mohammed VI to the throne of his blessed ancestors fall within an integrated vision aimed at strengthening infrastructure, improving public spaces, and enhancing the living conditions of the population.

Further urban renewal efforts are underway in the Moulay Rachid neighborhood, aiming to upgrade infrastructure and the overall urban environment. The progress of the sports village in the Al-Raha neighborhood was also reviewed. The program concluded with the inauguration of the "Future Champions" mini-stadium in the Al-Wahda city and the new headquarters of the Urban Agency, which is expected to bolster urban planning services and support the city's dynamic growth and investment.

Moulay Hamdi Ould Errachid, president of the Laayoune Municipal Council, highlighted that these projects are part of an integrated vision to strengthen infrastructure, improve public spaces, and enhance living conditions. He noted that the sports park spans nearly two hectares and includes several pitches and open spaces, while the sports village, with an investment of approximately 19 million dirhams, will feature fifteen mini-pitches.

The inauguration program included the completion of a sports park covering an area of nearly two hectares, featuring mini-pitches and open spaces, to provide a sports and recreational outlet that adds value to the city and meets the expectations of the population, in addition to the sports village project, which has allocated a financial envelope of approximately 19 million dirhams and includes about fifteen mini-pitches that will be open to various groups.
