Lagos APC candidates pledge grassroots mobilization after meeting Tinubu

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led a delegation of All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates for the State House of Assembly to meet with President Bola Tinubu. The visit, which included a traditional Sallah homage at the president's Lagos residence, aimed to foster interaction and receive guidance.

This is another solid visit to Mr. President, who graciously opened his residence to us.

During the meeting, the 40 flag bearers pledged to intensify grassroots mobilization efforts ahead of the 2027 elections. Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted that Tinubu encouraged the candidates to focus on delivering democratic dividends and maintaining close ties with their constituents. The candidates expressed their commitment to promoting the achievements of both federal and state governments and sustaining public support for the APC.

We came with the governorship flag bearer, the deputy governor, party leaders and, more importantly, the 40 men and women who emerged as our party’s flag bearers for the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Sanwo-Olu stressed the importance of continuous engagement with voters and internal party reconciliation following the primaries. He noted that the candidates have a responsibility to unite party members and reach out to all stakeholders, including those who contested against them. "We will not take anything for granted. We want to hit the ground running and ensure that every constituent is carried along," the governor stated.

They have given their commitment and assured the president that they will go back to their constituencies, work across board and ensure that people see the real dividends of democracy.

The APC plans to provide the candidates with necessary support, data, and structures to bolster their campaigns. Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence in the candidates' ability to effectively promote the party and its programs, stating, "They are motivated, encouraged and ready to go out there and sell the party and sell it very well."
