Lagos assembly confirms three LG commission nominees, defers two

The Lagos State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of three nominees to the Local Government Service Commission. The assembly, however, deferred the confirmation of two additional nominees pending further legislative review.

The confirmed nominees are Hakeem Bamgbola, Olaleye Samsudeen, and Olabanji Folashade. The decision was made after the assembly adopted the report of a 12-member ad hoc committee tasked with screening the candidates. The committee assessed the nominees based on their credentials, experience, and performance during the screening exercise.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had forwarded all five nominees for consideration. The committee found three suitable for confirmation, recommending that the appointments of Durosimi Yinka and Seriki Ahmed be stepped down for additional scrutiny. Speaker Mudashiru Obasa put the recommendations to a voice vote, which was unanimously adopted by the lawmakers.
