Lagos govt arrests suspect over alleged threats, attempted dispossession of widow

The Lagos State government has apprehended a suspect in connection with the alleged intimidation, assault, and attempted dispossession of a widow in Ikorodu. The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) confirmed the arrest after receiving reports of the woman's ordeal. The widow claims that her late husband's family members threatened her life and tried to seize her home and other assets. She alleges they ordered her and her two children to move into a single room while planning to sell her deceased husband's car and divide his properties. The case gained public attention after activist Harrison Gwamnishu shared details on social media. The DSVA stated that the widow had reported the incident to the Owutu Police Division and that preliminary police feedback confirms the alleged perpetrator's arrest. The agency is working with law enforcement to ensure justice and protect the widow and her children. They also urged residents experiencing domestic violence to report such incidents promptly.
