Police recover two stolen vehicles in Kano, arrest suspect

The Kano State Police Command has successfully recovered two stolen vehicles and apprehended one suspect as part of its ongoing intelligence-led operations against vehicle theft syndicates. These recoveries underscore the command's commitment to combating criminal activities and protecting citizens' property.

Operatives of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS), working under the Inspector-General of Police’s strategy, recovered a white Toyota Hilux. This vehicle was reported stolen on July 26 after being parked in Tarauni Local Government Area. Following the owner's report, SIS operatives tracked the vehicle and recovered it from a suspect in Kano. The vehicle has since been returned to its rightful owner, Zaiyyad Farouk, while efforts continue to apprehend another fleeing suspect and accomplices.

In a separate operation, the command recovered a black Hyundai Elantra that was stolen on July 10 from Abuja. Intelligence led police operatives to Jigawa State, where the suspects abandoned the vehicle upon sighting security operatives during a coordinated operation. Preliminary investigations suggest a link between the suspects and an interstate vehicle theft syndicate operating across Abuja, Kaduna, and Kano states.

The recovered Hyundai Elantra is being processed for handover to its owner in Abuja. The police have intensified efforts to arrest the fleeing suspects, their receivers, and recover any additional exhibits. Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, commended the SIS operatives for their professionalism and swift response, reaffirming the command's dedication to proactive and intelligence-driven policing to ensure the safety of lives and property in Kano State.
