The Lagos State government, through its Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, has demonstrated a proactive stance in managing environmental sanitation and mitigating flood risks. The directive for immediate evacuation of waste generated during the monthly sanitation exercise underscores the administration's commitment to a cleaner and safer Lagos.

We are actively monitoring the situation across Lagos State and have directed our operational teams to ensure that every single waste generated during the monthly environmental sanitation exercise is cleared in record time.

Wahab's emphasis on hourly updates and the mobilization of various teams, including LAWMA crews, private sector partners, and local government councils, highlights a coordinated effort to tackle waste management challenges. The simultaneous clearing of drainage channels and roadsides is a crucial step in preventing illegal dumping and reducing the likelihood of flooding, especially as the rainy season intensifies.
