Lai Rui-long Kiwanis Support Group Established, Shen Tao Leads Endorsement

Legislator Lai Rui-long, a candidate for Kaohsiung mayor, officially launched the "International Kiwanis Kaohsiung-Pingtung Area Support Group" on June 6. The group, spearheaded by Shen Tao, comprises individuals dedicated to public service and supporting children and vulnerable populations through Kiwanis activities. Their aim is to rally support across southern Taiwan for Lai, positioning him as the candidate who can best continue the policy achievements of the current mayor, Chen Chi-mai, and guide Kaohsiung into its next decade of prosperity.

During the event, Lai emphasized the Kiwanis club's long-standing commitment to "serving children and benefiting society." He highlighted how the formation of the support group symbolizes the consolidation of public service and citizen power. Lai lauded Mayor Chen Chi-mai's efforts to transform Kaohsiung into an "economic capital," citing the city's record 5.88 trillion NT dollars in business sales in 2025 and its consistent national leadership in investment attraction as proof of effective governance and teamwork.

Shen Tao, the newly appointed head of the support group, expressed her decade-long acquaintance with Lai, praising his forward-thinking approach to technological development and his success in securing significant budgets for Kaohsiung's infrastructure projects. She described him as a candidate with both international vision and execution capability, who has actively promoted city events to boost economic activity. Shen also recalled Lai's prompt response during typhoons, leading teams and delivering supplies to affected mountain communities, demonstrating his compassion and leadership.

Lai reiterated his vision for Kaohsiung as a "city of technology and economy," signaling his commitment to further development in these sectors. The establishment of the support group signifies a concerted effort to mobilize community backing for his mayoral bid, emphasizing continuity in governance and a focus on economic and technological advancement for the city's future.
