Lalong mourns former Plateau Assembly Speaker, Peter Azi

Senator Simon Lalong, representing Plateau South Senatorial District, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Rt. Hon. Peter Azi, the former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly. Lalong, who also served as the former governor of Plateau State, described Azi's death as a profoundly painful and devastating loss for his family, constituents, the state, and the broader political community.

In a condolence message, Lalong reminisced about Azi's substantial contributions to Plateau State's development, particularly highlighting his service as Speaker during the administration of former Governor Jonah Jang. He characterized Azi as a reliable political ally and a steadfast member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), consistently dedicated to serving the populace, especially at the grassroots level.

Lalong further noted that Azi distinguished himself through his unwavering commitment to public service, humility, and loyalty. He emphasized that Azi's impact on the state's political landscape and his efforts in strengthening democratic institutions would not be forgotten. Azi was also an active and committed member of the Conference of Former Speakers of State Houses of Assembly of Nigeria (COFFSHA), an association led by Lalong.
