Lambaré: Couple arrested with machete and knife after alleged aggravated robbery

Police in Lambaré, Paraguay, apprehended a man and a woman on Thursday morning in the San Isidro neighborhood after they were accused of aggravated robbery and making threats with bladed weapons. The arrests followed a report of two individuals causing disturbances and threatening a man.

Officers arrived at the scene and found the suspects, identified as Ever Máximo López, 45, and María Belén Chávez Falcón, 34, in possession of a knife and a machete, respectively. The pair reportedly resisted arrest but were eventually subdued and taken to the 17th Central Police Station.

According to police reports, the alleged robbery occurred a few blocks from where the suspects were apprehended. A victim later approached the couple to reclaim a stolen cell phone, at which point they allegedly began threatening him with the weapons. Police recovered a Samsung A20 cell phone and a USB drive, believed to be stolen property.

Both López and Chávez Falcón have previous criminal records. López has prior arrests for robbery, aggravated robbery, and aggravated theft. Chávez Falcón has a history related to drugs, violation of duty of care, and aggravated theft. The confiscated weapons, a machete and a knife, were allegedly used to intimidate the victims.
