Land Conversion Approved for China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway Project

In the Alabuga ayil aimak of Kyrgyzstan's Naryn region, a significant land conversion has taken place, reclassifying 3.36 hectares from "agricultural land" to "settlement land." This decision, formalized by a decree signed by the head of the cabinet of ministers, Adylbek Kasymaliev, is directly linked to the ambitious China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project.

The primary purpose of this land reclassification is to provide fair compensation to citizens whose agricultural plots were acquired for the railway's construction. The government aims to ensure that those displaced by the project receive equivalent land resources.

The state administration of the district has been tasked with updating land records, developing urban planning documentation, and ensuring the designated use of the new settlement lands. Additionally, measures for safe drainage of rainwater and meltwater, seismic activity preparedness, and adherence to environmental, sanitary, and fire safety regulations are mandated. The involvement of an archaeologist is also planned should any historical or cultural heritage sites be discovered during construction.

Construction on the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway officially commenced in December 2024. The Kyrgyz section of this vital transport corridor is planned to run along the Torugart-Makmal-Jalal-Abad route, with the ultimate goal of linking the extensive railway networks of China and Uzbekistan, fostering greater regional connectivity and trade.
