Landslide buries hydropower project camp in Nepal

A devastating landslide has completely buried the camp area of the Upper Trishuli-3 ‘B’ Hydropower Project in Nuwakot, Nepal. The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation confirmed the incident, describing the site as currently being in an "extremely difficult and hazardous condition."

The severe conditions are posing significant challenges to rescue operations and any efforts to establish access to the buried camp. Despite the risks involved, authorities are continuing with rescue and access-building initiatives. Helicopters have been repeatedly deployed for aerial inspections to assess the situation and guide the ongoing search and rescue efforts.

Necessary equipment for the operations has also been transported to the site via helicopter, and work has commenced. The project management has emphasized that the rescue of people remains their utmost priority, and efforts will persist until every individual at the site is safely recovered.
