Lanyu Power Plant Director Found Dead After Three-Day Sea Fishing Search

A three-day search operation concluded with the tragic discovery of the Lanyu Power Plant director's body. The official had gone missing on the 25th while engaged in sea fishing near the local landmark known as 'Tank Rock'.

His disappearance was reported on the morning of the 26th by power plant employees when he failed to return. Rescuers found his motorcycle and fishing gear at the scene, leading them to believe he had fallen into the sea. A large-scale search was immediately launched.

The search efforts were significantly hampered by severe weather conditions, including strong winds and high waves, due to the outer bands of Typhoon Sade. The joint operation involved the Coast Guard, fire department, National Airborne Service Corps, and civilian rescue teams, including divers.

Despite the challenging conditions and extensive search across land, sea, and air, the director's body was found early this morning by patrol and fire personnel about 1 kilometer north of 'Tank Rock'. The body was transported ashore and handed over to local police for further procedures.

Authorities have issued a stern warning to the public, particularly during typhoon season, emphasizing the unpredictable sea conditions along the east coast and outlying islands. They urge individuals engaging in rock fishing or coastal activities to wear life vests and spiked shoes, stay informed about weather and tide changes, and never venture into dangerous waters alone.
