Large fire at Incheon used car export complex destroys 58 vehicles

A significant fire erupted at a used car export complex in Incheon, South Korea, in the early hours of August 20, 2026. The blaze caused extensive damage, destroying 50 cars and partially burning eight others. A warehouse covering approximately 400 square meters, which contained used home appliances, was also lost in the incident.

The fire generated large flames and thick black smoke, prompting over 20 emergency calls to the fire department. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and managed to bring the fire under control about one hour and 48 minutes after it started, completely extinguishing it by 2:27 AM.

During the fire, the Yeonsu District office issued safety alerts, advising nearby vehicles to exercise caution. The fire department is currently conducting an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and the full extent of the damage. Officials are looking into whether the fire originated from a vehicle or another source, such as the warehouse or electrical wiring.

Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported as a result of the incident. The complex is a hub for used car exports, and the damage to vehicles and property is substantial.
