LASEMA contains Lagos fire, records zero casualty

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) successfully contained two separate fire incidents in Igando and Ikeja, with no casualties reported in either event. The agency's response teams were deployed to address emergencies occurring between Sunday evening and early Monday morning.

The first fire erupted around 7:37 p.m. on Sunday at 23 Shaba Ojo Street in Igando. Responders found a two-story building ablaze, with the fire originating from a two-bedroom flat. LASEMA attributed the cause to an electrical surge, noting that the affected apartment was unoccupied at the time. The agency, in collaboration with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, quickly brought the blaze under control, preventing its spread to other parts of the building. Dampening operations were completed, and the team returned by 8:24 p.m. with no loss of life.

A second fire was reported later that night, around 11:30 p.m., at 61 Abeokuta Street in Ikeja. LASEMA's Tiger Squad responded to find a fire engulfing a two-bedroom flat on the top floor of a storey building. The agency stated that an air-conditioning unit, following an electrical surge, likely caused this fire. Firefighting operations commenced immediately, with firefighters successfully confining and extinguishing the flames to the affected bedroom. No casualties were recorded in this incident either, and recovery operations were completed before the team returned.
