LATAM to Launch Asunción-Montevideo Route and Add Flights to Other Destinations

LATAM Paraguay is marking 30 years of operations with a new direct connection to Uruguay and more flights to Brazil and Peru. The airline plans to begin flying between Asunción and Montevideo in the first quarter of 2027, pending government approval.

The proposed route would operate five times a week. LATAM has not yet announced the exact launch date or opened ticket sales, but says the direct link would give Paraguay a new connection between the two capitals and support tourism and business travel.

The airline will also gradually increase service from Asunción to São Paulo, from 14 to 18 weekly flights between September 2026 and January 2027. The increase would represent almost 50 percent growth over the current operation and provide more than 180,000 seats during the period.

São Paulo offers connections to more than 60 domestic destinations in Brazil and more than 25 international destinations, including Amsterdam, Brussels, Miami, Madrid, Frankfurt, New York and Barcelona. Flights from Asunción to Lima will rise from seven to nine per week starting in October, a 28 percent increase. The airline will continue operating five weekly flights between Asunción and Santiago, Chile.

LATAM said it wants to keep supporting the country’s development by facilitating business and tourism travel and exchanges with other markets.
