Late Bloomer Ryan Fox Wins The Open Championship

New Zealand golfer Ryan Fox has claimed his maiden major championship title, winning The Open at Royal Birkdale Golf Club. The 39-year-old "late bloomer" finished the tournament at 10-under-par 270, securing a one-stroke victory over American Cameron Young.

Fox's triumph at the 154th edition of The Open, golf's oldest major, is his third career PGA Tour win. He started the final round in a strong position after an exceptional third round where he tied the major championship record with a 62. Despite a challenging first round where he was tied for 85th, Fox steadily climbed the leaderboard, demonstrating resilience and skill.

His final round saw him card a 2-under-par 68, including a crucial birdie on the 18th hole to seal his victory. The win earns Fox a prize of $3.2 million. Notably, Fox began his golf journey at 17 and turned professional at 25, making this major win a significant achievement in a career that has seen him overcome early setbacks.
