Latvia Launches Search for New Head of Anti-Corruption Bureau

Latvia is seeking a new leader for its Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) through an open competition announced by the Cabinet of Ministers. Aspiring candidates have until September 18 to submit their applications.

The next KNAB chief must be development-oriented and able to make decisions, evaluating information and taking responsibility for them.

The role demands adherence to strict legal criteria outlined in the KNAB law and regulations for state secret access. Applicants must be Latvian citizens with an impeccable reputation, fluent in Latvian and at least two foreign languages. They also require a higher professional or academic education (beyond first-level professional education) and a legal qualification, along with relevant work experience, particularly in public administration or law enforcement leadership.

Interested parties must submit a curriculum vitae (CV), documents confirming their education and language skills, and a completed questionnaire to the State Chancellery. Additionally, at least two references from previous employers and a motivation letter detailing their vision for KNAB's priorities, development, and anti-corruption efforts in Latvia are required. The monthly salary for the position is set at 6,804 euros before taxes. The selection process involves two rounds: document evaluation and a deeper assessment of qualifications, experience, knowledge, and strategic vision.
