Laura Bozzo Steps Into Stand-Up Comedy

Laura Bozzo spent decades listening to infidelities, family disputes and personal conflicts in front of television cameras. Now she is finally stepping onto the stage herself.

With Señorita Laura: More Alive Than Ever, Bozzo is taking on the theater career she once wanted. She studied theater at university in Peru and says she was even considered a newcomer of the year. Her family did not welcome the idea of acting, so she pursued law instead.

She later worked as a university professor, entered politics and became a star of talk shows across Latin America. The new production brings together the part of her that has long wanted to stand before the spotlight. “The nights will be very crazy. Bozzo promises humor and personal stories, including scandals from her public life. She also says she will not use the stage to present a version of herself that is always right. “I will not appear in my show as the heroine, I will leave that to others. I appear as I am, because I did make mistakes,” she says.

The comedy and stand-up show will tour Guadalajara, Monterrey and Mexico City. Bozzo says it will address episodes including the period when she was seduced by the power and influence of Vladimiro Montesinos, one of Peru’s most powerful men during Alberto Fujimori’s presidency.
