Lavanya Williams runs PB 10.9 seconds in 100m at Dom Rep meet

Jamaican sprinter Lavanya Williams delivered a standout performance at the Felix Sanchez Classic in the Dominican Republic, clocking a personal best of 10.90 seconds in the women's 100m. This impressive time, achieved with a legal wind reading of 0.7m/s, not only secured her victory at the World Athletics Continental Tour silver event but also placed her 13th fastest globally this season.

Williams' new personal best marks a significant improvement from her previous record of 10.95 seconds, set earlier in the season. It also positions her as the 15th fastest Jamaican woman in history. Her consistent progress is highlighted by the fact that she has lowered her lifetime best ten times this season, having started with a time of 11.45 seconds.

Fellow Jamaican Ashanti Moore finished second in the 100m with a season's best of 10.97 seconds. The Dominican Republic's Liranyi Alonso took third place with 11.05 seconds. The event also saw strong performances from other Jamaican athletes across different disciplines.

In the men's 100m, Kadrian Goldson secured second place with a wind-aided 9.90 seconds. Christopher Taylor also earned a silver medal in the men's 200m, finishing in 20.33 seconds. Amoi Brown claimed the runner-up spot in the women's 100m hurdles with a season's best of 12.73 seconds. Sanique Walker was second in the women's 400m hurdles, running a 54.45.
