Daumantė Hinz-Sinicė, a member of the Lithuanian Young Lawyers Association and an assistant lawyer, explains the circumstances under which social media activity can lead to job loss.

She notes that while employees generally consider their online behavior outside of work hours to be their private life, employers may have grounds to intervene if that behavior negatively impacts the company. This could include posts that are discriminatory, harassing, or that reveal confidential information. The key is whether the post has a demonstrable link to the employee's job or the employer's business.
