Lawyer Beller confirms testimony against Cerimedo, promises evidence

Lawyer Nadia Beller is set to appear before the La Paz Prosecutor's Office on Wednesday to testify against Fernando Cerimedo, her former partner, in a case concerning illicit enrichment that has impacted the state. Beller stated she will bring all the evidence she possesses and confirmed her attendance, emphasizing her commitment to the law and a personal, legitimate reason to seek the truth.

"I am going to collaborate with the Prosecutor's Office. I am going to offer the evidence and elements within my reach. I will do it because I respect the law, but also because I have a personal, profound, and absolutely legitimate reason to want the truth to come to light: Fernando Cerimedo attempted against my life," Beller stated in a message shared on her social media accounts.

Following Beller's denunciation of the presidential advisor, the La Paz prosecutor's office launched an investigation. So far, four houses and an office belonging to the Argentine national in the southern zone of La Paz have been searched. Beller asserted her non-involvement in the alleged crimes, stating she was not a state official, did not participate in meetings, did not execute operations, and had no knowledge of or relationship with individuals potentially involved. She also denied receiving powers or instructions to act on anyone's behalf, nor being part of any structure designed to commit or conceal crimes.

In her extensive message, Beller clarified that she was not an accomplice to the crimes committed by her ex-partner because she did not attend any meetings and was not a public official. She claimed the accusations against her arose because Cerimedo himself would discuss his work with her. The La Paz departmental prosecutor noted the discovery of a "small bot farm," which has caused political ripples across the region, raising questions about electoral processes in countries from Mexico to Argentina where Cerimedo has advised candidates.
