Lawyer Matías Morla Offers 150 Million Pesos to Diego Maradona's Heirs to Suspend Brand Trial

Matías Morla, the late lawyer and representative of football legend Diego Maradona, has offered 150 million pesos (approximately $1.3 million USD) to Maradona's heirs. This offer is intended to suspend a trial in which Morla faces charges of fraudulent administration.

The legal proceedings investigate the alleged misuse of the "Maradona" brand and the handling of substantial income generated from businesses associated with the football icon's name. Morla's legal representatives, Mauricio D’Alessandro and Rafael Cúneo Libarona, submitted a request to the court for a "suspension of trial at proof" (probation).

According to the proposal, the 150 million pesos would be paid in six consecutive monthly installments of 25 million pesos each. The first payment would be made within ten business days of the court granting the suspension. Morla's lawyers emphasized his financial situation, noting he is a practicing lawyer with his own firm and supports three children, while also paying alimony to his ex-partner.

In addition to the financial offer, Morla proposed performing community service at a public welfare institution as part of the probation conditions. The Maradona heirs include his six children: Dalma, Gianinna, Jana, Diego Armando Junior, and Diego Fernando. The prosecution has not requested an indictment, suggesting the matter may be viewed as a private civil dispute over financial matters rather than a societal crime.
