Lazio renews interest in Dennis Man as transfer talks enter final hours

Lazio has turned to Dennis Man as the transfer window enters its final hours, reopening a possibility that has followed the Romanian forward since his time at Parma. The Serie A club is seeking attacking options after agreeing to send Boulaye Dia to Rennes in a deal worth about 8.5 million euros.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Lazio has started discussions with PSV over a loan for Man. The proposed agreement would include an option for the Italian club to make the transfer permanent next summer. Journalist Nicolo Schira reported a "Positive meeting between Dennis Man's agent, Beppe Riso, and Lazio. The Italian club sent PSV a loan offer with an option to buy. PSV's response is expected this evening. Dennis Man has given his preliminary approval for a return to Italy!"

The timing leaves Lazio with little room to negotiate. The transfer window closes at 11:59 p.m. on September 1, and PSV does not appear ready to release a player it signed from Parma for about 9.1 million euros, before possible bonuses, a year ago. Lazio may therefore need to improve its proposal if it wants to complete the deal.

Man has also attracted interest from Atalanta, although those talks have stalled. A return to Italy would take him back to a league he knows well. He made 142 appearances for Parma, scoring 28 goals and providing 17 assists. Since moving to PSV, he has played 39 times, scoring 11 goals and making seven assists. Transfermarkt values the 28-year-old at 15 million euros. Lazio had monitored him during his Parma spell, but the earlier interest did not produce a transfer.
