Who will wear the armband? FCSB has four options for new captain

FCSB must choose a new captain after Florin Tănase’s departure to Omonia Nicosia in Cyprus.

Tănase was left out of the squad for Sunday night’s match against UTA after a conflict with assistant coach Lucian Filip. Tensions between the midfielder and the club leadership had reportedly been building for some time.

Club owner Gigi Becali was reportedly unhappy with several statements Tănase made in recent months, including comments about the team’s performances and his relationship with head coach Marius Baciu. His recent conduct ultimately contributed to the decision to end the collaboration.

FCSB agreed to release Tănase without seeking a transfer fee. He had an arrangement with Becali allowing him to leave if he received an offer considered sufficiently attractive.

According to Gheorghe Mustață, leader of the North Stand supporters, four players are candidates to replace him as captain: Joyskim Dawa, David Miculescu, Ștefan Târnovanu and Juri Cisotti. FCSB’s next fixtures are against FC Argeș in the Romanian Cup on Wednesday and Dinamo in the derby on Saturday.
