LazyTown Releases First New Song in 30 Years, Debuting Over Festival Weekend

The beloved children's show LazyTown is set to release its first new song in three decades, marking a significant moment for fans. Titled "All Out," the track is now available on streaming platforms and signifies a revival of new musical content for the franchise.

We wanted to bring new material from us. It has been so long since a new LazyTown song was released.

The song's premiere coincides with Iceland's Verslunarmannahelgi, or merchants' weekend. The LazyTown cast, including performers embodying iconic characters, will be featured at major festivals, notably Þjóðhátíð in Vestmannaeyjar. Additional performances are planned for Sauðárkrók, Siglufjörð, and Neskaupstaður.

This has been an old dream and it is a huge honor to get to take over the baton.

Hildur Vala Baldursdóttir, who took over the role of Solla stirða last year, described stepping into the character as a "childhood dream" and a "huge honor." She shared that her own young daughters are enthusiastic about her role, often showing more interest in her co-stars than in her. Baldursdóttir recounted amusing instances of picking up her daughters from preschool in costume, leading to them proudly showcasing her profession to their friends.

I've had to pick up at the preschool in costume sometimes and then they are a bit like showing their friends what mom does.

The new LazyTown ensemble, introduced last year, features Mikael Kaaber as Íþróttaálfurinn (Sportacus) and Almar Blær Sigurjónsson as Glanni Glæpur (Robbie Rotten). Baldursdóttir performs the new song alongside Kaaber. The group previously performed at LazyTown's 30th-anniversary celebration earlier in the year at Háskólabíó.
