Lean3 Taiwan Preorders Reveal Stronger Demand in Central and Southern Regions

Lean Mobility expected its enclosed electric three-wheeler, the Lean3, to appeal most strongly to northern Taiwan, where traffic is more congested. The preorder results pointed elsewhere.

The company said it opened individual preorders in Taiwan in April and surpassed 500 orders on the first day. Most orders came from central and southern Taiwan, a result that surprised the company and led it to step up plans for the southern market.

The Lean3 recently appeared in southern Taiwan at the Meet Greater South startup event, following displays at Taipei AMPA, Computex, and the Taichung International New Car Exhibition. Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai also tried the vehicle. Lean Mobility plans to make Kaohsiung the center of its promotional efforts and is considering a flagship location in Kaohsiung or Tainan.

The company has also started taking preorders in Japan through automotive retailer Autobacs Seven. Deliveries there are expected to begin in October 2026.

Japanese regulations classify the Lean3 as a mini-vehicle. It carries one person and has a top speed of 60 kilometers per hour, compared with 80 kph in Taiwan. Its range remains 100 kilometers on a single charge in both markets.
