Former legislator Lee Te-wei has asserted that former President Ma Ying-jeou's health is directly relevant to the ongoing investigation into alleged corruption by former foundation aides Xiao and Wang. Lee's comments come amid a heated dispute involving the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation, where former National Security Council Secretary-General King Pu-tsung has been presenting evidence of alleged financial irregularities.

Lee Te-wei directly criticized King Pu-tsung, labeling him an "outsider" and questioning his motives. He suggested that King's actions are aimed at consolidating power rather than seeking justice. The controversy centers on whether Ma Ying-jeou's alleged memory loss or cognitive decline impacts the validity of authorizations given to Xiao and Wang for managing foundation funds. Lee Te-wei responded by stating that Ma's health and the extent of his authorization are indeed connected to the determination of whether Xiao and Wang engaged in corruption or violated financial discipline.

Regarding the legal move by Ma Ying-jeou's wife, Chow Mei-ching, and sister, Ma Yi-nan, to seek a guardianship declaration for the former president, Lee Te-wei emphasized the importance of family. He stated that only his wife, daughters, and sisters can truly care for him, referring to others involved as "outsiders." Lee expressed hope that those involved in political or any work would retain a sense of humanity, adding that no family member would want Ma's health status to be publicly disclosed or decided by the courts.
