Legendary Festigal producer Miki Peled dies at 87

Miki Peled, the acclaimed producer and visionary behind Israel's beloved Festigal children's holiday show, passed away on Monday at the age of 87. Peled is widely regarded as a foundational figure in the country's entertainment industry, having shaped the childhood experiences of countless Israelis.

Born in Romania in 1939, Peled immigrated to Israel with his family in 1948. In 1981, he launched the first Festigal production in Haifa. The annual musical performance quickly evolved into a significant cultural institution, becoming an iconic symbol of the Hanukkah holiday in Israel.

Throughout his extensive career, Peled produced and directed dozens of major performances and cultural events. He collaborated with numerous leading Israeli artists and creators, earning a lifetime achievement award from ACUM, Israel's music and copyright organization. Colleagues and friends remembered him as a mentor with a generous spirit, known for his ability to discover emerging talent and offer them crucial opportunities.

Yaron Peled, his son and creative partner, described his father as "a person who knew how to dream, identify talent, give people an opportunity, and above all make people believe they could." Miki Peled is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as a legacy that includes generations of performers who considered him a guiding influence.
