Lekan Muibi's WBO Africa Title Clash Postponed as Opponent Withdraws Due to Injury

The highly anticipated WBO Africa cruiserweight title fight between Nigerian boxer Lekan “The Engine” Muibi and Godday Appah, scheduled for July 31 in Lagos, has been called off. Appah has withdrawn from the bout due to an alleged injury sustained during his training camp.

We have been recently informed that the scheduled fight between our client and Godday Apppah for his WBO Africa cruiserweight title on July 31st 2026 in Lagos on the bill of Balmoral Promotions has been called off following an alleged injury sustained by Appah in training.

Muibi (20-0, 19KOs), the reigning Nigerian and West African lightweight champion, was set to move up in weight to challenge Appah (15-2-0, 13KOs) for the title Appah won in May. News of the withdrawal was communicated to Muibi's management team by Balmoral Promotions, the event organizers.

In a statement released by his management, Quadriga Sports Management, Muibi conveyed his best wishes for Appah's swift recovery. The management team expressed their continued interest in the fight, stating they hope Appah will not shy away from the challenge upon his return and that the bout can be rescheduled for the earliest possible date. Quadriga Sports Management acknowledged that injuries are an inherent part of professional boxing and viewed the postponement as a temporary delay due to force majeure.

They confirmed that significant resources have been invested in Muibi's preparation and assured that the boxer will remain primed and ready once a new date is officially announced. Muibi holds undisputed titles as the NBBofC and WABU light heavyweight champion.
