LG Twins sign former MLB wins leader Carlos Carrasco

The LG Twins, currently leading their league, have made a significant move to strengthen their pitching staff for the upcoming championship push by signing veteran Major League Baseball pitcher Carlos Carrasco. The team announced on July 22 that they have agreed to terms with the 39-year-old right-hander on a contract worth $360,000.

Carrasco brings a wealth of experience to the Twins, having accumulated 112 wins over 17 seasons in MLB. He previously played for teams including the Cleveland Indians (now Guardians), New York Mets, New York Yankees, and Atlanta Braves. In 2017, while with Cleveland, he tied for the American League lead with 18 wins. This season, Carrasco pitched in 8 games as a reliever for an MLB team, logging 16⅔ innings with a 5.94 ERA, and also appeared in 8 games (6 starts) in Triple-A, posting a 2.55 ERA over 35⅓ innings.

The LG Twins decided to replace their previous foreign pitcher, Vic Salas, believing that Carrasco's extensive experience as a starting pitcher in MLB will be crucial for stabilizing the rotation, especially during the postseason. The team views the postseason as a period where starting pitchers play an even more critical role than in the regular season.

Carrasco, who hails from Venezuela, is known for his repertoire of fastballs, sliders, changeups, and curveballs. He is described as a pitcher who relies on a diverse pitch mix, consistent control, and game management skills rather than overwhelming velocity. Upon joining the Twins, Carrasco expressed his excitement, stating, "I am truly excited to join the LG Twins, who have the best fans," and added, "I want to contribute to the team winning the championship trophy once again."
