LH Launches Tender for Honam Semiconductor Complex Design Services

The Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) has officially begun the process to select a contractor for preliminary design and survey services related to the planned semiconductor industrial complex in the Honam region. This move follows closely on the heels of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's designation of the Gwangju military airport site as a candidate location for the advanced national industrial complex.

The designation of the Gwangju site occurred on the 29th, and the very next day, LH was confirmed as the preliminary project operator. This rapid sequence of events underscores the urgency and strategic importance placed on developing this semiconductor hub in the southern part of the country.

By immediately issuing the tender for the survey and design services, LH signals its intent to accelerate the project's development. The successful bidder will be tasked with conducting the initial assessments and creating the foundational designs necessary for the establishment of the new industrial complex, which is envisioned to bolster South Korea's semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.
