Lifeguard Missing in Paraná River; Extensive Search Underway in Corrientes

A frantic search is underway for Fabián Falcón, a 30-year-old lifeguard who vanished in the Paraná River on Thursday. Falcón disappeared during a fierce storm while attempting to retrieve a boat that had broken free from its mooring near a sandbank off the coast of Corrientes city.

The incident occurred when the group, including Falcón, two women, and another man, were on a lancha (small boat) anchored near the shore. The storm caused the boat to break loose, and while the owner failed to reach it, Falcón attempted to secure it and subsequently disappeared.

We have a lot of faith because he knows how to swim, he is a very good athlete and he is aware of the seriousness of the waters. We know he will appear alive.

Rescue efforts, initially led by the Naval Prefecture Argentina, were hampered by dangerous water conditions, including strong waves. The search resumed Friday morning and has been intensified with the involvement of the Chaco Police, who have deployed additional personnel and vessels. Family members have also organized their own search parties, using boats and jet skis, expressing hope for Falcón's survival due to his strong swimming skills.

Falcón's sister, Érica, has pleaded for public assistance, describing the search as looking for a needle in a haystack. The family is organizing prayer chains, clinging to the belief that he will be found alive. The Minister of Security of the province has confirmed the deployment of multiple boats from Chaco to aid in the search along the riverbanks.
