Liga de Quito Wishes Youngster Josué Caicedo Success at Barcelona's Reserve Team

Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito has announced that its promising young footballer, Josué Caicedo, will spend next season on loan with Barcelona's reserve team, Barça Atlètic. The Spanish club competes in the Segunda Federación, the fourth tier of Spanish football.

Liga de Quito posted a message wishing Caicedo, described as a prospect in defense or as a left winger, success in his new European endeavor. This move follows a trend of young Ecuadorian players heading to European leagues.

Barça Atlètic confirmed the agreement on social media, stating that Caicedo joins for one season with an option to buy at the end of the term. The 18-year-old player, who developed in Liga de Quito's youth system, debuted in the local first division this year under coach Tiago Nunes. He also featured in a Copa Libertadores match, following his participation in the U-20 Copa Libertadores in March.

Both Liga de Quito's management and coaching staff had maintained secrecy regarding Caicedo's future during negotiations. The transfer marks a significant step in the young player's career, offering him a platform to develop in European football.
