Liga MX Golden Ball Gala: Joao Pedro Leads 2025-26 Season Award Winners

The Liga MX celebrated its annual Golden Ball Gala, recognizing the top performers of the 2025-26 Mexican soccer season. The event, led by FMF commissioner Mikel Arriola and Liga Femenil president Mariana Gutiérrez, saw winners chosen through a combined vote of the 18 Liga MX teams, their captains and coaches, and fan participation.

Brazilian attacker Joao Pedro, a forward for Atlético de San Luis, was the star of the evening, taking home three prestigious awards: top scorer of the season, forward of the year, and the coveted Player of the Season.

In the women's league, Spanish midfielder Irene Guerrero of América was honored as Player of the Season, reaffirming her leadership and skill. Toluca's strategist, Antonio Mohamed, was named Coach of the Season and will lead the Liga MX All-Star team against their MLS counterparts.

Other awards presented included Best Goalkeeper (Nahuel Guzmán), Best Center Back (Erik Lira), Best Fullback (Bryan González), Best Rookie (Brian Gutiérrez), Best Defensive Midfielder (Marcel Ruiz), and Best Offensive Midfielder (Nicolás Castro). Cruz Azul was recognized as the best club of the season, and Efraín Álvarez scored the best goal of the season.
