Lima Closes Streets for Santa Rosa de Lima Celebrations

Lima's Historic Center will experience significant traffic disruptions on Sunday, August 30, as the municipality implements road closures and vehicle restrictions for the celebrations honoring Santa Rosa de Lima.

Thousands of faithful are expected to attend the festivities, prompting authorities to close lanes on Tacna Avenue from 5:00 a.m. to 10:40 p.m. between Conde de Superunda and Callao streets. A full closure of the north-south direction of Tacna Avenue may be activated if crowd density requires it, with detours rerouting traffic via Prolongación Tacna, Francisco Pizarro, Piñonate, Alfonso Ugarte, and Nicolás de Piérola avenues.

More extensive restrictions will affect the pilgrimage to the Well of Desires from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. This includes total closures on Jirón Callao (blocks 5-9) between Tacna Avenue and Jirón Sancho de Rivera, and on Jirón Sancho de Rivera (blocks 11-12) between Jirón Callao and Alfonso Ugarte Avenue.

The Municipality of Lima recommended avoiding private vehicles in crowded areas and prioritizing public transport. Entrances and exits for the Sanctuary and the Well of Desires were also specified, with attendees advised to follow traffic personnel's instructions and keep access routes clear for emergency services.
