Lima Confirmed as Host for International Pokémon Tournament in 2027

Lima, Peru, has been confirmed as a host city for the 2027 Pokémon competitive circuit in Latin America. The capital will stage the Lima Pokémon Special Event, an international championship drawing competitors from various official categories and modes. The tournament is scheduled for April 24-25, 2027, at the Jockey Exhibition Center in the Surco district. Attendees will compete in the Pokémon Trading Card Game (Pokémon TCG), official video games, and Pokémon GO.

This designation places Peru back on the official Pokémon competition calendar for Latin America, which also includes cities like Recife, Puebla, Buenos Aires, and Rio de Janeiro. The Pokémon Special Championships follow a format similar to regional tournaments, awarding Championship Points that are crucial for advancing in the official circuit and qualifying for higher-level international competitions. To participate, competitors must have an active Pokémon Trainer Club account and be part of the Play! Pokémon program.

Lima has previously hosted major Pokémon events. In May 2026, the city hosted the Pokémon Special Championship 2026. Additionally, as part of Pokémon GO's anniversary celebrations, Barranco hosted the Pokémon GO 2026: Global Festival. These events solidify Peru's position as a key location for official franchise activities in the region.
