Limangus breed makes history with '1-2' finish in Palermo's top beef quality test

The Limangus breed has made history at the 138th Rural Exhibition of Palermo, Argentina, by securing a remarkable "1-2" finish in the prestigious Block Test, an objective evaluation of beef quality. This achievement underscores the breed's consistent excellence in producing high-quality meat.

In the Block Test, which concluded on July 17, Limangus cattle from Cabaña La Tregua (owned by Daniel Bovetti) were awarded the Best Carcass overall, while Cabaña El Saino (owned by Matías Polidoro) took the Second Best Carcass. This competition involved carcasses from all participating breeds, highlighting Limangus's superior meat characteristics.

Earlier, during the steer competition, Limangus also demonstrated its market value. The Grand Champion Limangus steer from Cabaña La Tregua commanded the highest price at auction, selling for $5,250 per kilogram. The Reserve Grand Champion Limangus steer from La Negra SA followed, selling for $4,950 per kilogram.

Further reinforcing the breed's prowess, Cabaña Los Choles achieved the third-best Eye of Beef Area (AOB) among all breeds. The exhibition also featured classification shows for breeding stock, where Limangus bulls and heifers showcased their high genetic quality, with several animals receiving top honors.
