Lin Rong San Literary Award Submissions Closing in 13 Days; Authors Urged to Complete Creations This Weekend

Taiwanese authors have just 13 days left to submit their creative works for the 22nd Lin Rong San Literary Award. The deadline for submissions is July 31. Organized by the Lin Rong San Cultural Public Welfare Foundation and co-organized by Liberty Times, the award aims to inspire and celebrate the literary vitality of Taiwanese writers.

The competition features four categories: short story, essay, new poetry, and prose. The short story category offers a first prize of NT$600,000 (approximately $18,700 USD), with second and third prizes of NT$300,000 and NT$150,000 respectively. Two honorable mentions will each receive NT$60,000. The essay category's top prize is NT$250,000, followed by NT$120,000 for second place and NT$70,000 for third, with two honorable mentions receiving NT$40,000 each.

Poetry submissions can win a first prize of NT$200,000, with second and third prizes at NT$100,000 and NT$60,000, respectively. Two honorable mentions in poetry will receive NT$30,000 each. The prose category will select ten winners, each receiving NT$30,000.

Eligibility requires Republic of China (Taiwan) nationality. Submissions must be original works, never published in any form, including personal blogs or social media. Plagiarism and ghostwriting, including AI-generated content, are strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification. Works must be written in Chinese. Each applicant can submit only one entry per category. Foundation and Liberty Times employees are ineligible.

Submissions can be handwritten or printed in Chinese (12-point font) and should be sent in triplicate to the Lin Rong San Cultural Public Welfare Foundation in New Taipei City. Authors must include a completed author information form, downloadable from the foundation's website or obtainable by phone. The submission deadline is July 31, with the postmark date serving as proof of timely submission. Winners for short stories, essays, and poetry will be announced on October 23, with all winners published in Liberty Times' "Liberty Literature" section and on the foundation's website. A second announcement of first, second, and third prizes, along with honorable mentions, will occur at the awards ceremony.
