Lin Rong San Literary Award submissions closing soon, deadline July 31

The Lin Rong San Literary Award is urging authors to submit their work before the July 31 deadline, with just 29 days left to enter.

Organized by the Lin Rong San Cultural Public Welfare Foundation and co-organized by the Liberty Times, the award aims to foster and encourage literary creation within Taiwan. It is open to all individuals with Republic of China nationality.

The competition includes four categories: short stories (8,000-11,000 characters), essays (3,000-4,000 characters), poetry (35-50 lines), and prose (under 1,000 characters). Significant cash prizes, ranging from NT$30,000 to NT$600,000, along with trophies, will be awarded to the top winners in each category. Several honorable mentions will also receive cash prizes.

Submissions must be original works written in Chinese and must not have been previously published in any form, including online platforms or personal blogs. Plagiarism and ghostwriting, including AI-generated content, are strictly prohibited, with disqualification as a consequence. Both handwritten and printed submissions are accepted. Detailed author information, including a downloadable form from the foundation's website, must accompany each submission. Entries should be mailed to the foundation's address in New Taipei City.

Judging will occur in two stages: an initial review followed by a final selection. The first stage, on October 23, will announce the selected entries for short stories, essays, and poetry, as well as the ten prose awardees. These results will be published in the Liberty Times' "Liberty Supplement" and on the foundation's website. The second stage, held during the awards ceremony, will reveal the first, second, and third prizes, as well as honorable mentions for each category. The foundation reserves the right to publish and reproduce all winning works without additional payment.
