Lindsay Clancy trial jury hears from final witness

The murder trial of Lindsay Clancy is winding down in Massachusetts, with the prosecution presenting its final rebuttal witness on Wednesday.

Dr. Gregory Saathoff, a forensic psychiatrist who interviewed Clancy, testified that she had control over her actions and was criminally responsible for the deaths of her three young children. Saathoff stated that the voice Clancy claimed ordered her to kill the children had stopped once the killings ended, indicating she retained control. He also noted inconsistencies in her account.

Saathoff characterized Clancy's suicide attempt as "very serious," despite prosecutors previously downplaying the severity of her self-inflicted cuts. He added that while Clancy experienced significant side effects from some medications, she still had the ability to appreciate right from wrong. This testimony directly counters the defense's argument that Clancy was overmedicated and suffering from postpartum psychosis.

Clancy has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the January 2023 deaths of her children, Cora, Dawson, and Callan.
