LINE finally moves unpopular VOOM feature from main navigation

LINE, the popular messaging application, is finally addressing user frustrations by moving its LINE VOOM short-video feature. For years, users have criticized VOOM's prominent placement at the bottom center of the app's main interface, often leading to accidental clicks and exposure to unwanted content.

Starting June 30, 2026, LINE VOOM will be relocated to the 'Services' list within the 'Home' tab. This change aims to declutter the main navigation and reduce the frequency of unintentional access to the short-video platform. While the entry point will change, users will still be able to view content and post videos.

LINE VOOM, launched in 2021, has struggled to gain widespread user adoption in Taiwan. Many users have voiced complaints about the content, citing a prevalence of fake advertisements and Chinese short videos. The interface design has been a particular point of contention, with users frequently expressing annoyance at the feature occupying the central, highly visible position.

This move follows other adjustments LINE has made to VOOM's positioning. In March, the company ceased some video editing functions, focusing on basic video recording. The relocation will be rolled out in batches, meaning the exact timing may vary for individual users. Notably, the search function within LINE VOOM will no longer be supported after the relocation.
